I love pink!
I’m half Japanese but I was born and raised in Brazil! My father grew up in Brazil too so he forgot all his Japanese and couldn’t teach me. I decided to go to language school and learn by myself when I was 12!
What do you think is special about GnoKids compared to other kids English schools?
I love the atmosphere at Gnokids! We aim to make our lessons fun, creative and engaging for the students. I think it’s very helpful that the students can practice our target words, phrases and grammar beforehand in their homework, so when they come to class they’re able to use them very naturally and we’re able to play games and even do roleplays! Having two teachers in class also helps us prepare fun activities and it ensures that every student gets plenty of attention and help!
What is most important to you when teaching children?
What do you think has helped your students improve the most?
I think that practicing everyday is the most important thing, even if it’s just a little bit! Our homework videos are a great way to do that, not only do students get to practice repeating the words and phrases, but they also get to be basically immersed in an all English environment in every episode of Alex’s Adventures! A lot of students tend to get busy as they get older, but I’ve seen a lot of improvement in students that made sure to dedicate at least a few minutes everyday to watch the videos or even read a book at home!
Why did you become a teacher?
I love kids! When I moved to Japan, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. I’ve always been interested in a lot of different things such as languages, arts and crafts, music, but also maths and computer science. I started teaching just because I wanted to play with kids to relax and have fun, but I soon realized how fulfilling it is to help kids learn and grow! When I joined Gnokids, I realized I loved every part of the job- from coming up with lessons and preparing materials, to teaching and spending time with the students, so I decided this is the career for me!
Where are your favorite places in Japan?
I definitely love the food and people in Osaka and the culture and elegance of Kyoto. I went there for a short trip but realized that I should have taken the time to really go around and experience more things.
What is your favorite food?
Anything sweet. I love trying out different desserts and even bake cakes and cookies myself!
What kind of music do you like?
I`m a big fan of broadway musicals and classic songs. I like to sing a lot of popular songs on the Karaoke too.
